Facebook technology chief: Google+ validates us

Earlier this week, in a controversial statement, Facebook investor and former
president, Sean Parker said at the same conference, that the site’s biggest
threat is that its ‘power users’ have gone to Twitter or Google+.
It his belief that some of these users have left Facebook for Twitter and
Google+ because they have a lack of good controls over the information they
see and who they share it with.

Taylor admitted it was difficult to try and balance giving users more control
and keeping the service simple to use.

He also said that the site should continue to grow and not fall prey to same
fate as other dwindling social networks, such as MySpace, as it was focused
on being a platform for lots of services. Most recently Spotify tethered its
future to Facebook, post a raft of changes to the site at f8, Facebook’s
annual developer’s conference.
